Stumped with the raptor???
#1
ok so i go out and start the raptor(660) and it idles ok, but after about a minute or so it cuts out hard and it also cuts out whenever you give it a little throttle. so i clean and blow out the carbs and it runs fine. about a weak later i go to take it out and its doing the same thing, im sick of ripping the quad appart to get to the carbs. when i give it throttle it spudders and dies and sometimes backfires violently. if the carb is clogged then which parts of the carb should i focus on cleaning. i have a feeling that the floats might be stuck or something???but idk. any help would be good.

The same thing just happened with my 02 Raptor, it would idle fine but when u gave it throttle, it would pop and backfire. It turned out it was the parking brake rev limiter. Just make sure your parking brake cable is tight. We thought it was the carbs too but it was just that rev limiter.

yea, the cable is tight. but yea the hmf is a great pipe, i went with the full system and it makes a huge difference, its like a whole new quad. i would say if you haev the money then get the full system, if not go with the slip on. stock i was probly puttin out around 37, 38 hp. with the hmf im probly in the mid to high fourtys, but thats with an air filter and adaptor plate which is also a good investment.

oh yea, and i would say that there is a good difference in the hp levels that the full system and the slip on system put out. the stock raptor headers are really made for a quad that is around 400cc and they are way to restrictive.
