Default 02 raptor studdering....

i have an 02 raptor 660 and it has been running very well since i jetted it. i rode it all weekend and was fine, but towards the end it started randomly cutting out and sputtering, then backfired once. It then got worse, but still starts right up. and ideas?

Im not sure never owned a raptor, can someone give him a hand? I think its one of the cables that comes off the handlebars somewhere. Try your emergency brake cable too.

You need an E-brake block off kit for 15 bucks

hey buddy
i have a 04 rappy that was doing the exact same thing the e brake or parking break is not the cause. It is the reverse rev limiter. i grounded out the reverse rev wire and it fixed my problems it is a small green with white stripe wire located next to the gear shift i believe it is the bottom wire. follow the wire up and tap into it then ground the wire to a bolt on the engine this stops the reverse rev but get ready to haul some a$$ becasue reverse will be as fast as first gear is
this is a dirty fix and definitly cheap fix but it is what fixed my rappy i am not sure but a new cdi box is more than likely the correct route to fix this problem but the price slowed me down
have fun

Hahahaha, Yeah I grounded the reverse rev limiter sensor to the engine too. It's hilarious, it burns the tires on pavement in reverse. The gear ratio in reverse is just slightly lower than it is in 2nd gear. 1.7 to 1.5 I think. I think mine would do almost 50mph in reverse with the 14t gearing. It would take a lunatic to take it that fast in reverse though.
