Jetting Qoestion????????
#1
I have an "06 Raptor 350 with a 12:1 JE piston, advanced timing, Big Gun rev box, Hot Cam, K&N, 14 tooth front sprocket, FMF exhaust, and jetted the carb. Origonally it was running too lean, white in the silencer and the plug ceramic was being eaten away. I had the needle clip in the 3rd position and a 36 main jet. It ran very good but too hot. I moved the needle clip to the 4th position ( from the 3rd ) and put a 38 main in place of the 36. Seems to run really strong now, actually a little impressive for a Raptor but, not like my Banshee. Now I have a hesitation when you stab the throttle. It starts up instantly and shuts down the same. I did not readjust the mixture needle because I did not think of it until on the way back home from the dunes just now. I am wondering , is the hesitation from non adjustment or the needle clip in the 4th position. I would not think the main would cause that but I am not a carb expert. I have not examined the plug yet. Any ideas?????????????

Is this the stock carb? If you put all this other work into the motor it may be worth upgrading to an edelbrock carb. On the warrior the stock carb would bog a bit when you stab the throttle. I'm not sure if this is the case on the raptors but they do use the same motor as the warrior. The carb has an accelerator pump that gives the motor extra fuel when you stab the throttle. So once you get all your jetting dialed in (without stabing the throttle), then see if the bog isn't as bad.
