660 exhaust question?
#1
i am wanting to buy a new exhaust but not really knowing the reason for it
if the new exhaust has the same size piping how does it produce more power
if it is the same size why not get a slip on
if a slip on how does it produce power unless it is straight through with no restriction
thanks for any help

ok, 1st of all a new pipe has slightly bigger piping, 2nd of all, I would get a slip on, I haven't noticed hardly any improvement over the stock headpipe. 3rd, a slip on pipe makes more power for almost that reason, if you take the plug out of the stock pipe, you will see how. An aftermarket pipe is hardly restrictive at all. as far as pipes go, anything from FMF is pretty good and reliable, I have a factory 4 on my pred and I love it, it sounds great too.

some of the aftermarket raptor exhausts have indeed the same size inside diameter as the stock head pipe. for example, the Big Gun header pipe is the same size as the stocker.
However, my LRD Pro4 pipe has a larger inside diameter than the stock pipe, and it bends away from the cylinder head farther than the stock pipe by about 2-3 inches. This creates a similar effect to the old 2-stroke pipes with large expansion chambers — the large bend allows gases to build up slightly to create more back pressure.
The sound of my LRD is excellent, and it's performance has been phenomenal. I've used FMF, Big Gun, Yoshi, and DG pipes on my machines. This LRD pipe is by far the best so far. If you check their web site, you can see the dyno chart for where this pipe makes the most power for the Raptor.

if you like it to make noise, go with white brossounds great and increases HP, Sparks and Yoshimura are one of the best but they are expensive, i wouldnt go with FMF thats like a last resort pipe for 4-strokes

Something to consider when purchasing an exhaust system: Customer service.
About four washes after installing my brand new LRD Pro4 system, I noticed the ballistic coating (which is gauranteed not to rust) was rusting in the tight spot where the two head pipes converge into one. I e-mailed LRD and informed them about how much I loved the pipe's performance and of the rusting.
They agreed to replace my entire exhaust for free after this season. A portion of the LRD decal was also wearing off of the can. I informed LRD that I followed their instructions for cleaning the exhuast to a tee (no powerwashers and no harsh degreasers, just soap and hose water pressure) and they simply sent me a return authorization number and gave me until after the season was over so I would not have any serious down time right in the middle of the year.
Best customer service I have ever had, in my opinion.

Michael, I'm sure some people will boo me on this one but I have the LTE setup on my quad. Dude it badass. The sounds is stupid crazy and with a 690 bore kit in it you just don't want to be behind me during a race. Yes it heavy but hell a raptor is heavy in the first place. With the duals coming out the back it's a sweet site to see. I'm email picture if you would like. Scott
