Just picked up my Raptor yesterday! Holy cow, this thing has alot more pull than my '97 Warrior!

Like most people, I have found the gearing to be too tall. I had planned to go with a 12 tooth c/s, but from reading other posts, I'm concerned that it still may be way too tall for my type of riding (tight trails, steep hills). I've seen a couple of people mention that they are running a 11 tooth sprocket. Since alot of people caution about this, I just wanted to see how these sprockets (and chains) were holding up. 11 tooth sprocket users, are you enjoying your lower geared raptor?

Ya I like the 11 tooth its nice for the woods! The sprocket doesnt hold up real long but there only $12 so I just will replace them often. It is worth the money for the gearin it makes a big differance, I was ridin my raptor 3-4days a week and the sprocket lasted around 1.5 months before I say the teeth start to turn, so just keep and eye on it and change it frequently and you'll like the differance and plus the quad still has top end when do you need to do 70mph with the stock gearing. So I'd run an 11 or you can go up to a 42 in the rear and run a 12 in the front this will get you close to the same gearing.

my brother in law put a 12 in front and a 43 in back. similar gearing to putting an 11 in front. downside is it takes away a small amount of ground clearance in back.

he did have to shim the skid plate a little. Lost about 1/4 inch of ground clearance I think.

When you changed to the 11, did you have to take a link out of the chain?

No I didnt have to take a link out. There is enough adjustment to take up the slack although after about 1 month of hard riding I ran out of adjustment so I will have to take a link out when I get it back. I put the stock gearing back on before I gave my quad to TC Racing so all the mods could be made with the stock gearing on. So you can put an 11 on and try it, if you ride woods you'll like the differance!
