Default Help with 99 Banshee

I just purchased a 1999 Banshee today, it is my second one. Every once in a while it will sputter like it just blows a blast of air out one side of the exhaust. I noticed the rubber mount for the exhaust pipe is broke in half so it isn't sealed up against the head very good. Could it be that making it do that. Also that side doesn't have as much pressure out the back of the pipe like the other side does. I am going to check the compression on it also just in case. It also doesn't have very good throttle response and will die at an idle. Thanks for any input

Its more than likely that hole, Otherwise it sounds like water in the air filter or gas somehow :-/

Definitely fix the pipe.A compression check is also a good idea.
Not sure if you have aftermarket carbs or not but a syncronizer tool is a good idea.It tells you if the carb slides are openeing at the same time. This makes a big difference in throttle responce.I bought mine from F.A.S.T.Racing.I can get you the # if you need it.I've tried eye balling them and still will be off.

It's probably that hole in the pipe, but carb sychronization is a good idea too, my banshee runs horribly if the carbs aren't synced, you can check just by taking the air filter out and if it's off, the sync too might be a good idea.

Thanks for the replies, does anybody know what the compression should be? I have to wait till tomorrow to order the rubber mounts before I can fix that problem.

compression was 120 both sides, pulled the exhaust and the cylinders still have the cross hatches in it. Pistons have no signs of wear on them that you could see through the exhaust port.

That's probably ok on the compression.

Fixed the exhaust and put a new O-ring on it. Didn't fix it, pulled the left carb. and cleaned it good. Went ahead and put a K&N filter on it while I was there. Got it put all back together and it works fine now, just had a little trash in the carberutor. Thanks for the input from everyone.
