Well I am thinking about getting a cam for my 2004 YFZ 450. I am thinking about a Stage 1 Hotcam. Those are just drop in cams right? Do I have to rejet? If I get one for mid-top will it increase top speed because it already hits the rev limiter stock so can the top speed go up? If not should I get one for low range and then regear? Please let me know anything about the yfz cam's, also if you know any places that sell cheap cams...thx in advance.

Just take the exhaust cam and rotate it clock wise one tooth. Out of all the aftermarket cams the best results are only a 1HP gain and the one that gives the 1HP gain gave less torque than the cam mod so you decide if the price of cams is worth the money.

 

That is what I love about the YFZ450 over the Honda 450. You dont have to spend any extra $$$ on a hop up kit. Just retard the exaust cam, remove the airbox lid, get a slip on exh., and rejet!! Big power!

I still dont get what you do with the cam though......My friend knows how to get to the cam and everything but what do you do with it? You just get it out and roatate it clockwise 1 tooth and your done? What power range does it increase? low-mid or mid-top? Is it a noticable gain tho?

You are basically going to want to RETARD the exuast cam one tooth,

It gives more midrange and top end.

well i just did the cam mod about 20 minutes ago, and it fired right up when i started it, so it runs. but i havent had a chance to ride it yet...so i will let yall know
