So i am on my way home.. what do i see.. a 05 Raptor 350... forsale sign read... "2005 Yamaha Raptor 350 Less than 20 hours, $3500" i thought.. hhmm ok.. so i started lookin it over...
bent clutch lever
bent bars
bent controsl(how i have no idea... and yes i am talking about the clamps that bolt onto the bars that hold stuff on)
bent rims and tires
blown right shock
practically no rear brakes
for some reason the seat felt like a board
rear shock was spungy but def not blown
chain was rusted BAD
grab bar is bent
end cap for pipe is missing( i thoguht these couldn't be removed, the silver part)
entire bottom of engine was covered in thick oil
the rear tires were BALD
front "bumper" was smashed
sssooo being the nice guy i am *rolls eyes* i decided to talk to the owner about it... Turns out it did infact have 20 hours, 19.6 to be exact ( hourometer (??) ) i rode it.. the whole quad just didn't feel safe.. it started and ran fine but was drastically underpowered... turns out it was serviced 3 times so far.. 5 hours 10 hours and 19.5 hours..(times on meter when taken in, he had a log)
I guess people are honest but damn this quad was fubar... and yet he wouldn't accept anyless because KBB said it was worth $3700...
although i was a nice guy and sold him a clutch lever for $2 considering his was in the shape of a U ( i paid $.99)

Incredible.......
Makes you wonder why some things are 20 YEARS old and cherry, yet other things are 20 HOURS old and are beat to crap!!
How in the heck could something THAT new be soooo destroyed??? (roll eyes)

2 hrs of rolling it down various hills and ditches
5 hrs of burnies on pavement
3 hrs of random poor maint.
5 hrs of running it like a bat out of hell
4 hrs of random putting around riding
.6 hrs of letting it sit in a torential downpour...
yep... 20 hrs...
sounds like a keeper to me....

Well, he puts the meter on after it is trashed, see. Then the next 3 times it is ridden it breaks down and needs service. I have seen machines over 20 years old still riding on the original shocks, something seems fishy to me.

Yea, you have to love those "claimed" hours on some of these quads.
Love those e-bay sells where they say only 20-30 hours. I can understand bald tires, at least the backs, but it is a dead giveaway when the nubs on the grips are worn down.

My BF 750 seems like it is always in rear tire spin and those are stock dunlops with 47 hours at 5 psi and have over 3/4 tred left.
You would have to sit and power break burn out on asphalt to burn that much tire off.
But if you can project this baby over a period of time and budget you will have a good quad.
I WANNA RIDE

Hey guys, new to the board, but not to Quad riding.
That sounds like B.S. or like osmeone said, it spent all 20 hours burning the tires and falling down hills.
Did he GHOST RIDE the thing down hills to see what would happen???
My 2003 Warrior has way more than 20 hours on it. Very hard riding at times spinning the tires all the way up sharp rocky hills, going through mud pits, 2+ feet of water, etc. And I thought mine LOOKED worn but still runs great. Stock dirt tires are getting bald, but no where near bald.
There's no way he ran it 20 hrs and had it serviced every 5 hrs. WHo would service a ATV every 5 hrs?
SOme of my riding trips are 3 hours each way out on longer trails. That's 6 hours from and back to the truck!
