05 yfz not as quick as it should be
#1
I just recently got a secondhand 05 yfz 450 it looks like new however I raced another 05 yfz (both stock) and he killed me, I also raced my buddies predator, I stay equal with him until 5th and then he blows by. What do I do to get my yfz back to how it should be?

Check the compression.
Clean the air filter.
Use good gas.
Use good oil.
are your tires bald?
Are all bikes complete stock? (sprockets and all)
Are you just as good of a rider as the other guys?
Do you weigh more than the other riders?
There are alot of factors to speed, we need more details.

Take off and shift points are everything in a short drag especially on close quads. I wasnt very fast at all my first time dragging my 700 but after some reading on how they react and some practice, I do much better now.

i am as good of a rider as the other guys, i tryed my friends yfz and there is a noticable power difference, i use 91 octane gass and am going to put good oil in it, just cleaned the air filter. i am almost shure that everythings stock, is it possable that my engin needs to be rebuilt or somthing?

just to clear this up i know im not the best drag racer and i could probobly do a lot of things to improve my racing but my yfz dose not have as much power as my buddies. i am shure of this because i have ridden his and it is a lot quicker. i was wondering if there is any odvious mecanical things that would cause this.

Your valves may need to be adjusted as well. Also, does your buddies quad sound the same as yours? He may have removed his baffle, done the cam mod and rejetted. If so, he will definately have more power than you do, but the bike will look stock.
