yfz oil type

Default yfz oil type

hi im doing an oil change on my yfz and i was told that the manuel calles for 20w40 motercycle oil, i went down to canadian tire today and they hade never heared of 20w40 but they hade 20w50 is this ok? whats the difference and will it heart anything?

thanx a lot for any help

I cant believe how crappy tire hasnt heard of 20w40 oil but, if i were you i would put 10w30 right now since its starting to get cooler now and 10w30 flows better.

use amsoil 0w40 motorcycle oil.

I also use amsoil 0w40.

thanx for all the replies, however i alredy baught the 20w50 i could take it back, but it would be a noter trip in to town. anywas i was wondering what the difference between it and 20w40 is and if it will do any damage to my bike?

No, it will not damage your bike. Most people cant even tell the difference when they switch oils. It has a little bit to do with how the quad shifts and usually only experienced riders can tell the difference. Just make sure you buy synthetic motorcycle/atv oil and youll be fine.
