Sparks Ignition key- Affect Rev limiter?

Scooby,
The thing is that I had just shifted into 3rd. The RPM were still low, it wasn't allowing them to buildup as quick as it previously did. Maybe I'm trippin or something but I'll definately see whats up this weekend.

If you ignite the fuel/air mixture too far in advance, the piston ends up struggling to compress the already expanding gasses. If you ignite it too late, the piston isn't able to take full advantage of the expanding gasses and as a result, a lot of it just gets pushed out of your exhaust valve into the exhaust system.
The guys description of his problem arising at low RPMS in a higher gear sounds like it might be too much advance.
To tell you the truth, with the light flywheel, it's pretty easy to stall and almost seems to want to kick back on you. For this reason alone, I wouldn't want to go with an aftermarket advance key. I believe that by opening up the intake and exhaust systme, the Raptor engine is going to be dealing with enough fuel/air for the piston to take full advantage of the expanding gasses with the stock timing.

What I mean by kicking back is that at low speeds, like at idle when you kill the motor from lugging it, it almost seems like the piston is being pushed backwards due to an early ignition. It could just be me being picky though.
I'd ask CT about the mods that you've already performed. I'm anxious to see what your results are when you get the pipe on.

Believe me I'm anxious to Feel to results. Next Monday I should get the kit or maybe even this Friday anyways I can't put the jets(I don't know the main from the pilot from everything else except the bowl that is) in. The pipe,headers,pro-flow filter shouldn't be a problem though. If anybody thinks that I could re-jet this beast with minimal prior caburator experience please let me know. Thanks all

My homeworks done can I go out and play. The key will not burn up th engine with or without exhaust. It has nothing to do with the exhaust. I have heard whispers about overadvancing your ignition could be trouble. Something like you shouldn't advance your ignition past 4 degrees but come to think about it I think that I seen that on a website trying to sell their 4degree keys. I hate negative campagning. Scooby was it you that told me about them power ignition cdis. FMF has them now for the raptor have you ever used one. Is it Effective? Is it worth it?

The timing key for the 400EX is smaller than the key for the Raptor. If you installed the smaller key you would have advanced the timing past the 6 degree mark . Sparks sent me the wrong timing key I had to call them they said the first bunch of timing keys got mixed up and they would send me the right key. After reciving the right key I compaired the two timing key and the one for the Raptor is shorter and wider than the key for the 400EX.I did'nt get a chance to install the new timing key yet I will post the results when I do.

Ya I believe it was a fluke too. I took it on a long ride last night and it was A OK. Could definately tell because I was definately Spinning out in the snow(fun as hel')and went I went through all the gears revving it high the limiter was not affected.
