It appears that the Polaris Scrambler is faster than a 400EX, well according to Polaris riders.

My question is have any of you Raptor owners raced a scramber yet? Can the Scrambler even come close to the Raptor?

You are correct, I should have been clearer. Looking at the 400 2 stroke.

not really, I watched them race on a 500 foot grass drag and the Raptor easily won of course the Raptor beat everything there. The 500 is supposed to be about dead even with the 400 in the 2000 model year and up. Yeah the Scrambler will beat the 400EX saw that there too. They both have there good and bad sides. Too bad there wasn't a 4x4 Raptor! They make that and I will be a Yamaha man once again.

The scrambler might beat the Raptor right on the start line (thanks the belt drive for grip)...well, that's what happen when me and Xplor race, he goes in front, and I catch him in 3rd, or 4th if it's a low grip "track", or late 2nd in sand or whatever gives me some grip . His scrambler is pretty much faster than stock though...can't remember what he has...think all the clutch stuff, pipe (from HPD maybe), Hot Seat springs (and Works struts to come). We have the same tires (22" bearclaws). On gravel roads, the low speed grip is quite amazing...while I'm still spinning, he's already far away (and I start in 2nd).
On a very short drag with low grip, the scram could be a winner (especially with 4x4).
We're still looking for some riceboy on a 400EX and say "aaaaaah you got beaten by a Polaris on your EX...baaaaaaah"

My son raced a 400 scrambler at the dunes a few weeks ago on my Raptor and he backed off before he went to 4th gear because he was beating the scrambler so bad. The scrambler was one of the fastest in our group before the Raptor showed up. The scrambler was also far from stock. This was a drag race on a flat sandy strip about 1/8 mile long. A 400ex was also in the race and it came in 3rd but close to the scrambler. The ex had a pipe, K&N and jetting, other than that it was stock. No banshees joined the fun that day but they were there.

Watched my brother race our buddy's stock Raptor a couple of weekends ago. His 400 Scrambler is pretty heavily modified and very quick. He pulled a holeshot on the Raptor (autos will get the holeshot on anything), but the Raptor went by and pulled him by a good bit at the end. In a 100-yard race it would've been very close, but beyond that I can't see too many things keeping up with a Raptor.

2 things to take into consideration:
The Scrambler weighs 550lbs compared to 400 for the Raptor.

It looks to me like the Raptor is in a very mild state of tune. There looks to be much more HP there to be released once some good bolt-ons come out.

Zorro said it pretty good. Except every time he tells the story he gets faster and faster...LOL

I do not think a Raptor would "kill" a Scrambler400 since the Banshee does not, and they are about evenly matched.(Raptor and Shee that is) Yes the Shee gets me after 3rd gear...but bring on the 400ex's and other sportquads!

The way I see it is that if you are lucky enough to own a new Shee, Raptor or Scram400 you have one heck of a fast ride!

Being the fastest isn't always the most important thing...but it sure feels great when you are!
