'05 Raptor 660 starting problem...
#1
I did a search for this, but could not find a definitive answer so here's my story. Rode over the weekend and hosed my '05 Raptor 660 down this morning. Went to unload it off the trailer and it was dead. Yanked the battery and hooked it up to my charger and it's getting a full charge. Put battery back in and tried to start it and it is making a clicking/sparking sound near the battery and nothing else happens. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Terminals are clean. Can the relay be easily replaced? I have just enough mechanical skills to cause more problems and then just take it to the shop! Thanks for your response.

This may sound wierd, but sometimes you can tap on the relay and it will start working again.....strange but true. The side of the relay contains a fuse.....one fuse as an extra in a dummy hole and one fuse that is functional. Make sure your fuse is not blown.

You sir, are a mechanical genius!! Well within my scope and it worked. I am still hearing(slightly) the clicking noise, so I assume the relay is going bad and should be replaced eventually, correct? Thanks again for your insight.

I have had to replace several of those starter relays and they gave no indication as to whether they were going bad.....they just died. At that point was push-start time until I could install a new one, which is never in stock at the stealerships. Definately not a bad idea to get one ordered for a quick replacement. They run around $27-30. Glad to be of help.
