it will be here on thursday of next week.

what kind of a difference should i expect.

my raptor is bone stock right now which i am ashamed to say.

am i going to need to get a power commander now or will everything still run fine as it sits?

im not sure what size u are using right now but in the front every tooth u drop u loose 5 mph, so u should leave him off the line but he will catch up.

Yea you will have alot more torque then what you had if you are dropping a tooth but what I would do next is prob get a pipe, filter, and a programmer...then I would get some tires for the raptor and you should see a large inscrease in the quad overall

I've heard it alleged that you might GAIN top end by going down a tooth. The theory is that wind resistance and the rider/machine wieght prevent you from hitting the rev limiter in 5th with the stock gearing. I'ts geared too tall from the factory. Dropping a tooth and reducing the gearing should overcome this, allowing a HIGHER top end.

Dropping a tooth on my 660 made it go faster than I want to go.

I have a 05' Rappy that I geared down. First I went smaller in the front one tooth, but changed it to one bigger in the rear. It wasn't such drastic change with the bigger rear.

I put a 13 on mine and took it off the next day..makes 1st gear usless and revs through the powerband to quick....u might like it though....its quick on take off ,,if u can keep the front down through 4th

the 700r gearing is different than the 660, most are going to a 15t, read the forums at raptorforums.com

After you change your sprocket have someone check your top end with either a radar gun or a GPS. My top end this past weekend on my completely stock engine 06, 700R was 73.4 MPH using a GPS on a Dry Lake bed. I was wearing all my riding gear and my weight is 195 lbs. For trail riding stock is fine for me. 2nd gear is plenty and I only dabble with 3rd gear for very short sprints. A smaller sprocket is going to really help you in a drag race but you'll be running up the RPM's quickly. Like chip700r said, "Makes 1st gear useless." Report back to us when you make the change. Let us know how you like it. Good luck.

1 down on the front on a 660 makes for great gearing..u pick up take off but dont really lose much top end.....the gearing on a 700 is totally different.1 down in front on a 700 didnt work for me

I downed my rappy to a 13 tooth for harescrambles. I love it. It is super torquey but i love having the snap. I dont run as fast but i can get there just as fast or faster than the 450s.

Go down one tooth in front. It's cheap to replace the front sprocket. I wouldn't go down more than one tho. The diameter gets too small for the chain and wears fast.
One tooth in front should be like 3-4 in back.
