what kind of a difference should i expect.

my raptor is bone stock right now which i am ashamed to say.

am i going to need to get a power commander now or will everything still run fine as it sits?

Yea you will have alot more torque then what you had if you are dropping a tooth but what I would do next is prob get a pipe, filter, and a programmer...then I would get some tires for the raptor and you should see a large inscrease in the quad overall

I've heard it alleged that you might GAIN top end by going down a tooth. The theory is that wind resistance and the rider/machine wieght prevent you from hitting the rev limiter in 5th with the stock gearing. I'ts geared too tall from the factory. Dropping a tooth and reducing the gearing should overcome this, allowing a HIGHER top end.

Dropping a tooth on my 660 made it go faster than I want to go.

I have a 05' Rappy that I geared down. First I went smaller in the front one tooth, but changed it to one bigger in the rear. It wasn't such drastic change with the bigger rear.
