02 Raptor 660 No Spark
#1
My sons 660 Raptor backfires from the muffler every once in a while tring to start it. I pulled the plug to check the spark. NO spark I have tried other plugs that he has and the same thing, I see a spark when I let off the start button. The plug is grounded against the exhaust bolt . Anyone have any ideas. Thanks

I called the yamaha dealer(repair shop) on my problem with the spark. They told me to get a new plug!
I had three plugs that I was tring and all three had the same results, But I picked up a new one just to try. The same problem NO SPARK the only spark I get is at the end of the cranking when I take my finger off the start button. The Battery drains down quickly. I have put my battery booster on it,to give it a little extra shot. But the battery with meter is showing 11.8 DC Volts before i add the charger. Things just don't add up could anyone help with this problem. Also could this be the Rectifier Regulator. or the coil.. Has anyone had this before or heard of this.
Thanks

Ok I unpluged the rectifier and had real good spark. Put the plug in and it started up, So the way it sounds, now the stator in the problem correct. if you read this please get back to me. Thanks for your help.

OH AND if i had to guess whats wrong with it id say the pick up coil. http://www.rickystator.com/pages/Yam...ckup_coil.html And as of the rectifer its under the back fender same side as the shifter but i highly doubt that is your prob or will help by unpluging it rick told me when i had issues with mine to unplug the stator theres two sets of wires unplug the three white one if its fires you whole stator is bad.

The rectifier on this raptor is located between the tail light and the battery on the outside of the machine. With it plugged in I have no spark until I release the start button then I do get a little spark. When I diconected the wire harness from the rectifier I had real good spark. I put the plug back in the machine and it started up. Had a lot of gas sitting in the engine but that burnt out . So with this in mind Do you think the problem is in where?is there any test that I can do to track the real problem.
