Hey everyone... i currently ride a 05 YFZ450, that me and my dad share, i am 18 years old and im a about 5'10 140lbs... on the other hand my dad is almost 50 and he is about 5'11 230lbs... we both love the power on the YFZ, but the fact is it is just not fun in the trails and the seat and suspension are too stiff my dad absolutely hates it, the machine takes too much out on him... i dont have a problem, i love the yfz... we ride a little bit of everything but tight trails mainly. he has been looking into trading the YFZ for a Raptor 700 and I just had a few questions about it.

1. Is it faster in a straight line (off the line and top speed)?
2. Will It be more forgiving in the trails?
3. Will it handle as good.?

1. Probably not but it will be close enough that it won't matter.
2. Yes. The suspension is a bit softer and so is the seat.
3. No but depending on what you do it should be close.

If I were riding trails like you guys do back east I'd go Raptor 700 no question.

I ride dunes so the YFZ is the one to have there hands down.

 

I have not raced a YZF but i can tell you the top speed of my 06, completely stock engine 700 is 73.4 mph. At 50 lbs wieght difference there may be a slight handling difference but my 700 feels like it is on rails and I still have the stock tires on it. Plus, turn the key and hit the button and your off. No choke.
