Kodiac400,
Good points you make.Today,we got 14 inches of fresh snow in Michigan.I'd LOVE to see a 2wd quad do what I done today! No way!
My Xplorer has selectable 2wd to 4wd,for the heck of it today,I tried to push that amount of snow in 2wd,FORGET IT!It did a great job in 4wd though,

I own both. I like the feel of the 2WD better, but when the mud gets thick I'd rather be on the 4WD. Lighter up front and less turning push. My 2WD will go pretty much anywhere my 4WD does, but you need to keep up your momentum and you will ocassionally get stuck. I hate stopping to get pulled out.

I will agree that 2wd sport bikes are awsome at climbing hills because they have awsome power and torque to get up them. But like my bud Kodiak400 said, in the right conditions forget about it!! I ride a 99 Wolverine and when I go out riding on weekends, its usually with Kodiak400 and our other friends that ride sport machines. Kodiak and I have gone through some pretty deep water and mud. If anyone knows what the hydro line trails are like up here, they know what were talking about. Theres usually lots of peat mossy mud, black thick crap that sticks real good. Some holes are like quick sand. NO 2wd. make it through these trails without being pulled or pushing there bikes through. I owned 2wd's all my life, so I know. I feel I have best of both worlds with my Wolv. and I love it!! Looking to get a kit for it later on to turn it into a 435cc or 463cc.

No matter what anyone say's there is terrain that you can not negotiate without 4 wheel drive.
This goes for quads, trucks, and jeeps.
I do not use the 4x option on my quad the majority of the time, however, I have been in situations that it would have been impossible to get out of without it.
The same goes for my pickup. I can negotiate a fair amount of trails without 4wheel drive but NOT all of it.

Ok, to start off with my friend and i were playing around on our bikes(he got 2000 4x4 Kodiak stock tires and i got 89' Moto-4 2wd stryker tires on back) we decided to have a tug-o-war. I dragged his @$$ all over the place! while he was in 4wd. We both weigh around 100 lbs. Nobody is going to tell me 4wd is better
