Lets see....My number 1 complaint would have to be the lean idle circuit. Its not good being stranded back in nowhere with a $6,500 ornament. This has since been fixed by larger pilots. Next, the tires will not let the rear end slide and gets flats every other time I ride (stock 2 ply...I guess it's expected). Lastly, the clutch does drag a bit when pushing it around. Besides that, the thing is flat awesome.

Where did you get your information that the RAPTOR produces 43 stock HP. I believe it's more like 37-38. Yes, it could use a 6th gear. I found myself, many a time, looking for 'another' gear but then again, who isn't?

I sold my for one reason. Power. When they first introduced the raptor, they said that it was going to be "the most powerful atv ever built". That is simply not true. I've seen dyno's of the raptor as high as 38 to as low as 34 hp. That is pretty dissapointing. The ds, although it is a tank, is 41-42 hp. The banshee is 37-38 hp. Although I dont know what the hp was on a stock 500 quadracer, I'll bet it is way more than 40. I've had two quadzilla's and the definitely have more power. None of these machines handle even close to the raptor though. The raptor is so sweet for trail riding. You can fly through the woods at light speed. The reverse is sweet, although geared to high, and electric start is nice. The majority of my riding is hillclimbing though, and the stock raptor just doesn't cut it. If you want to modify it, and spend another two thousand, you'll probably have a powerful machine. If you put two thousand into a banshee or a quadzilla you will have alot more power.

The bill of lading from the shipping company lists the bike as having 43 horsepower.

My slip that came said 43.8HP, this is the one from Yamaha that the dealer gets and gives you to get a title. I think it is a Certificate of Origin.

Hi Jedi,

Even though I haven't had the problem with my intake boot, I would still like for it to be replaced. I'm bringing in my machine for it's first initial service. Would you know if there is a warantee number available? If so, could you please e-mail it to the following address:

PMFlorenzano@hotmail.com

Also, I'm going to see if I could get the headlights replaced since they get filled with condensation.

Well, I have only spent 5 hours on break-in so far and it already sounds like some of the valves are out of adjustment... where the heck do you find a service manual for the Raptor? The dealership told me that they won't even be making one for a couple months. I think that is B.S.

1)The reverse gear is way too high...
2)The plastic leaves light (whitish) marks if bent. How the heck do you get them out? Heat gun?
3)Brakes aren't the best.
4)Too many extra cables (for brake light)

But, overall, I am extremely impressed with this machine. I just can't wait to finishing up the break in process so I can modify it!
