Tell me about the Raptor 700
#1
I have a 400ex right now and I want to move on up. My friends are all going bigger (to the 450's) and I am wondering if I should go for the Raptor. I have never driven a Raptor before and I've narrowed my choices down to 3 quads
Honda 450r
Yamaha YFZ450
Raptor 700.
I know this is a Yamaha forum so I may not get any opinions on the 450r. I love my 400ex and I want something faster than it and that can handle a bit more and a just also, a newer quad. I have not driven a YFZ450 or any Raptor at all. I've only tried the 450r and I do like it, but am wondering if the YFZ or the Raptor would be a better choice.

depeneds what you do. if you just cruise the trails or rip around the countryside and pop the occasional wheelie or whatever, and don't like changing oil and filter lots, get the raptor 700. if you go to the track lots, or do jumps or your the kinda guy who's gotta have the fastest thing, get a 450, i'd say the YFZ cuz i think its a better quad,(i've road both and it seems more planted and less tippy than a 450R), but then again im a work at a yamaha dealership so im kinda biased. you could search this topic, its been beat to death twice. i'd say trails - raptor, track - YFZ450

I also agree, unless you plan on racing MX you should go with the Raptor. I have a 660 and love it and I hear the 700 is sooooooo much better allthough I havn't ridden one yet.

I honestly love the 400ex, but I just want something a bit more powerful. I love how it can wheelie sooooo easily. I love doing wheelies on a long distance. Is the Raptor capable of doing this? And the 450s? I have never seen a video of someone doing huge wheelies with anything but a 400ex. I want to buy a new quad but I don't really want to get a new 400ex. I hate how Honda has made all their quads look like the 450 (except the 300ex which looks ugly LOL)

your supposed to change your oil more often on a 450 as apposed to the rappy, as per the owners manuals. anyways. and if you kill your friends 450R all day, what does that mean? top speed runs down the road, or quick short drags. it doesn't mean your 700R is any faster though you do have mods, what mods does he have? im betting he just dont know how to ride.

my friends got a 450r and i love that thing. havent ridden the 700 or yfz 450 but i raced him with my raptor and i beat him. his is cammed, full exhaust, jettted and has a filter. its got a fresh motor with the compression ration raised buy 1. he races gncc with it. befor he geared it down the would walk ALL over me. its a he!! of a bike. it can be hard to start tho sometimes. besides that i love the bike. not all of us are yamaha only people. from what i hear the 700's are very nice bikes and good for trails, reverse and electric start. cant beat that.
