New or used is definatly up to you... its all about preferance...i personally dont mind used as lond as i can give it a test ride and look it over.....some poeple would not buy used if thier life depended on it...

as far as size goes....i say look in the 400cc range .. aka 400ex and z400.... they are both great bikes for what you want to do with them and have decent hop up potential....350=too small 450=might be too much for ur experiance level.....

id say 400ex over z400. there prtty much the same bike but the 400ex's tend to be cheeper and parts are less. i see alot more race 400ex's than z400's maby tahts way idk

Not a bad buy for $4499, but depends how "used" it is.

You can buy a new 2005 450R kick start for $4999.

New 450R $4999

Go look at it and see what kind of shape it is in. Cannot go wrong with any of the 450's.

i test drove this today, has never been owned:

http://www.vetesnik.com/new_vehicle_...224&pov=429024

and let me just say.. i am in love. compared to the 05 trx450: 10 more horsepower, eletric start, five valves. its not the 90's any more if i dont have electric start and reverse, i wont buy it.. but i can go without the latter. i cannot go without eletric start.

the yfz is the way to go.
