Looking at a raptor
#2
Lowest I have seen for a new new/perfect 700 Raptor is $5k (I bought it) all the way up to over the price of new. Also some dealers still have New 06 Raptors they will sell for around $6500 if you shop around.

Is it clean?
Generally speaking. . .
Check for title.
Look under the bike make sure nothing is bent or no contact has been made with the frame. Shouldn't be an issue. Even if there has been contact doesn't mean there are issues.
Check the frame for any cracks at any weld points.
Take a good look at the swingarm - again, look for cracks or signs of abuse. Check the axel for straightness.
Check the oil. Make sure it is at least full and not milky at all.
Check the coolant for proper color.
Check the air filter for signs of neglect.
Most likely the bike is in very good shape and the guy is selling it due to divorce, job loss, lack of use, or some other change in his life. His loss can be your gain.
I bought the Wife a 700 Raptor this summer and sold her old 660 (686). The 660's are going to drop in value in the next few years due to the 700's. The 700's are really a much better quad. The 660 had many issues. . . tranny (2001's), dual carbs (those still have me pissed!), too tall, tippy, cheap handlebar clamp cover (Wife's was lost on the first ride out!), etc. I've been really pleased with the 700 so far. She isn't interested in modifications (yet) I think that says something. The bike with a Pipe, Air Filter and Power Commander is a real different animal. I've seen them take the modified 450's up the dune drag hill without a problem. In another few years the bikes will not need any modifications at all as they'll have enough power right out of the crate.
