Default Which 450 to choose?

not that i hate mine or anything but id disagree about the 450Rs center of gravity; it sucks compared to a 250R or YFZ. if i were looking to buy another 450, id go get a 2007 YFZ or see how the new kawasaki 450 matches up....

From experience with my YFZ I have to say that there is no choice here. The better quad is absolutly the YFZ, not just because i own one. I have always been a honda guy, but if you do enough research like I did, you will see that the suspension is the most race ready stock suspension of any quad, Its more powerfull, and if memory serves its also lighter. In Phoenix honda holds their value, which is great if you plan on selling it, but lame when it comes time to buy one. So in that respect, are you looking to buy a 450, or sell one?? Also I mainly do my riding in the ISDRA dunes, and the YFZ dunes better, looks better, and is faster(stock form).

Time for a personal story.... I bought my YFZ used from a guy who had heard so many good things about the TRX450, that he decided to sell his YFZ and get a honda 450. He was very excited about getting his new beautiful black TRX. It actually made me wonder if I had made the right decision. Then I got my answer.... you see 3 weeks later my phone rang... didnt recogonize the number... it was the guy who sold me the YFZ!! He was calling to see if I would consider selling him back his old bike. He got his beloved TRX he dreamed of and HATED it. He said after riding the YFZ the new TRX felt short, top heavy, and shook him to death. That says something to me.

If you want my honest opinion..... keep your banshee
And if all your looking for is something to do wheelies on, ill put 30lbs of weight on the 6-pack rack of my blaster and sell it to ya. Or better yet go get a old 250r atc and put a -2 swing on it. Seriously who baises the quality of a quad on if they will pull wheelies.

I agree with this dude. The 450r can be somewhat "tippy" and the yfz feels to be better planted to the ground. There was an article I read saying the 450r (06 and newer) has the overall top speed over the yfz and ltr450. I also heard that there was some possible oil passage issues with the yfz's (06 and older) that caused some crankshafts to have problems. my $.02

I should have said I am going by what Ive heard people say about both machines in the air. Ive rode both, both were 05s but I dident really get too much air to justify my statement. Its true the older modle YFZ wristpin sieze up to the conecting rod. the 07s and later come with an Oil pump. The earlyer modles basicaly just splash oil around in the crankcase and the wristpin doesnt get enough lubrication. It can cause snapped connecting rods/worse and even busted cases. If I were going to buy a new 450 I would definatly wait for the new KFXs. They look Dominant. This is why the Banshee rules. If you do bust a case you can go on ebay and buy cases for 100 dollars and everything else is cheap to fix. Plus that would never happen because the wristpin and everything else gets plenty of lubrication with the fuel. Plus you can alway spend money on getting the Banshee to handle like a 250R with a 250R geo frame and suspention/A Arm mods. It costs to be the fastest on the track no matter what machine you have.

Yeah, I agree. wait until the Kawasaki is out. It is going to set a whole new level in the 450 class. All aluminum chasis and fuel injected! And it is the bad a** Kawasaki Green

wait till the new 450 kawasaki comes out before you make a decision. if you like torque and wheelies get the raptor or v-force 700.

All this stuff about the rings on older YFZ's sounds like crap to me... I have an 05 and I ride it pretty damn hard. I constantly drag race and rev it out and I have not had any problems... Its stock and Ive beat TRX's in a straight line, it handles better than anything and i love it... My friend also has an 04 YFZ and no problems this is the first ive heard of the rings going bad on them. Anyways i would reccomend a new YFZ. Or wait for the new Kawi...
