A few issues with my 700 Grizz......
#11
I couldn't find any fault with the new fuel cap location either. I suppose if you tried to fill your tank from a fuel container that is very full one might spill some before you get the spout down to where the fuel filler location is. The solution is to not fill the fuel container so full.
There is one issue I've had so far. When starting out on a ride with a full tank of gas (with the level of the fuel at the bottom of the white filler neck), I was smelling gas and thought I had a fuel leak somewhere. After looking for the source of the leak I could smell a trace around the end of the hose at the tank which is under the seat, so I put a hose clamp on it at that point (it didn't have any form of clamp on it).
Then after taking the top "tank" plastic piece off, I noticed the vent hose at the top of the gas tank was rather short, it ran in an upward direction for several inches then made a downward turn (like an upside down "J"). There was an air gap of about 2 inches between the open end of this vent hose and the funnel like drain for fuel spillage at the fuel filler neck. There was a strong gas smell coming from there. So I replaced that short hose with a longer length of tubing which ran up and around the air intake opening, then back down and inserted it just into the hole of the funnel like drain for the filler neck (eliminating the 2" air gap). There was still plenty of room around the tubing for fuel spillage at the neck to drain around the tube and down the drain. Anyway, I wasn't smelling fuel any more after I did those couple of modifications...
