Default 2007 Wolverine 450

Hello this is my first post here. I am looking to buy either a Grizzly 450 or the Wolverine 450. Ive always wanted a sport quad and ive never really liked the looks of a utility quad. I do need 4WD though because most of the trails around here are hilly, rocky, muddy etc and a 4WD definitely works better in those situations. What im asking is, does anyone here own a Wolverine? If so, does it work just as well in those situations as a utility quad? Also, has anyone had any (major) problems with one?

BTW, does the Grizzlys IRS have a big advantage over the Wolverines straight axle?

Thanks

I have one and it goes GREAT. I encounter some pretty crappy hills that are rutted and muddy and have yet to get stuck.

You will be able to go over more nasty rocky terrain with the IRS setup and the Grizzly will be able to carry more utility type stuff but the Wolverine 450 is a good compromise for sporty and 4wd.

Any more questions just ask!

I have the wolverine 450 and love the straight axle because you can slide the rear end and I love the feeling of the way one handles. With the IRS I feel like I am going to roll over because the suspension shifts the way it does.

Thanks for the replys. I was looking and it has 23" tires stock. Say if I wanted to put some Mud Lites on it, the smallest they make is a 25". Would that fit without causing any problems?

Also does anyone make a full or slip-on exhaust for these?

I am of the opinion that larger tires will help with traction but zap some power. If you like mud and bad conditions they will help traction but top speed will decrease a little. You might want to install an EPI clutch kit also if increasing tire sizes. I read that the MudLites are shorter than advertised so they may not be too bad.

I have an HMF sport slip on muffler and I like it a lot. It woke up a bunch when I installed it.

There are a lot of people that are putting on the 25 or 27 inch tires, I dont think anyone has had any fitment problems yet.

As far as slip on pipes, HMF makes a pipe and so does Yamaha with the GYTR pipe.

It should still handle better.

Maybe! I wanted a Grizzly 450 but I like the looks of no racks better, plus the lighter weight of the Wolverine.
