Default Valves on Raptor going bad

I started my 03 Raptor yesterday and there was severe knocking in the engine, probably valves. How much does it generally cost to fix this? I have no experience with this problem so I don't really know what needs to be done. If anyone knows what it generally costs (without labor) to fix this please let me know, or if I should even bother fixing it.

If it's the valves then apparantly the timing chain is wore out, letting the valves hit the piston. No way to know if this is the actual problem or what the parts cost will be until it's tore down and inspected.

I'm assuming that you're regularly adjusting your valve lash right?

I don't even know what valve lash is let alone how to adjust it, like I said I have no experience with this and I enjoy riding but not fixing, so I really have no idea how to tell if the valves are even the problem.
