Yamaha moto 4 80cc resurrection?
#1
Should I resurrect the old beast for the kid or go with a new chinese(unnn) quad. I cant afford to buy the new Raptor 80/50 right now after buying the Wolverine. So everyone please give your opinions and let me know what you think

If you decide to ever sell the moto.I'd be interested.I've got a moto 100 and cant figure out what electrical problem i have.I need another moto to use the parts off of to see whats wrong with mine.I hear alot of guys complain about them chinese bikes.Good luck on your decision.

I'd fix it up. It would be fun, wouldnt be wasteing a quad and the kid might learn a thing or to. And if it doesnt work out it wouldnt be too much of a big deal. I heard those new chinesse bikes are junk also.

Thats what I am afraid of is that it would be a junk quad, the kid unfortunatly wouldnt learn much, shes going to turn 3 on the 26th, so not much to the turning wreches yet(although when she turned 2 she watched me put together a playset for her and she found the special wrench and started "helping" and took 2 bolts back out. lol
The only real reason I would even consider a chinese quad is the remote kill on the bike.
I think the problem is a stuck intake valve, I have heard that the old moto 4 80cc and even the 100cc I think have a problem with that.
as far as the electrical problem on your bike QWODER, what is yours doing? I had to replace the starter solinoid a few years ago. but that is the only electrical problem, as it is there is only like 8 or 10 electrical connections on the bike I have.

Mine will turn over but has no fire.I've checked all the electrical components with an ohm meter and they seem alright.I think it's the cdi box but I hate to turn loose of $150 and find out its not the cdi.

Id say fix up the Moto-4 80. It would probably last a lot longer than those cheap bikes. What has to be done to restore it?
#7
Well QWODER, you are just not getting any fire at all from the plug wire?
Check ebay for a cdi box or possibly the coil.
I priced a bunch of stuff yesterday and I will probably spend between 300-400 to fix up the moto 4
I need all new brake lines and a junction box on the front handlebar 127.00
Two front tires 50.00
Carb kit 35.00
battery 30.00
as far as in the engine I need to tear it down and see, what is messed up, very low compression wont even blow my finger off the hole
I checked and my valves were tight but I loosened them off and now they are very loose and still no compression.

Well my intake valve is beat into the head and worn down, needs replaced, the piston and cylinder are having to go to .050 overbore so I am going to spend 200.00 on engine and then need two tires, and a carb kit.
