I just bought my 1st ATV (Raptor) on Friday. What brands and models of helmets, goggles, boots, gloves, chest, protectors do you fella's recommend and/or have had bad experiences with. I don't have money to burn but i don't want to waste my money either. Kinda on a budget with Christmas and all.
Thanks guys

First thing you will need is a helmet. Get a good vented one so you won't get too hot while riding (usually around $200+ bucks). Since you just bought a $6500 atv, your dealer should give you a good deal on one. Congrats on the new ride.

Goggles- no fog. vented helmet with quick release. mesh jersey for warm weather riding, off road boots. Check for last years leftovers for some of these, you can save money. The helmet and goggles are a must , the other stuff I would consider a luxury. But if you keep using your everyday clothes you will buying new ones. I mostly hve AXO. see ya! You won't regret taking up this sport!!!!!

WELL ALL THE GEAR IS GOOD BUT, HELMET IS MOST IMPORTANT. SO BRAND IS NOT THE FIRST THING TO LOOK AT ITS THE RATING. ALSO I HIGHLY RECOMEND A FIBERGLASS HELMET OVER PLASTIC. THE ? IS HOW MUCH IS YOUR HEAD WORTH?

btw, get a helmet with a chin guard. i think that is what it is called. Do not get an open face. You need to protect you pearly whites and your jaw, but most important, your brains. Unless you want to be fed baby food for the rest of your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BE SAFE!

Thanks fella's! Yeah, I crashed my Yamaha R6 roadracing about 6 weeks ago. Highsided at 70mph. I remember being about 5 feet above the bike, then pain in my wrist opon impact, then thinking "I need to keep the bike off of me" as the bike was pushing me down the track. I used every piece of gear i had on. Helmet took a nasty lick, face sheild was badly scratched, back protector worked, leathers had holes (ground thru to plactic cup on shoulder) in them and scuffs from shoulders to calves, gloves were scuffed up, boots had scraps and rubber from spinning rear tire. In all this, I crushed my wrist badly opon impact with the tarmac . so I know how important gear is and i plan on wearing as all the things i listed because with my luck, I will need it. with leathers, you can spend $400 and upwards to $2500 & $3000. That $400 set is not going to fit that great but work great. Some of the $1000 suits fit a little better but have been known not to hold up crash after crash as the $400 set. But this is much different gear than what is needed in the dirt.
So I did not know if there was an advantage to buying a $250 helmet over $125 one? I don't care if it is last years colors, I just want a good fit and do it's job when it is time.
I noticed last night in one catalog, that one helmet had a removable liner so it can be washed. seemed like a good idea.
$200 answer boots over $110 Ocelot boots?
$40 gloves over $20?
