help, i have a 97 or 98 2x4 timberwolf that was running great then all of a sudden it started acting like the coil was breaking down under a load, or getting too hot. now i can't even get it started, it turns over easy. i have replaced the coil, wire, spark plug, and spark plug boot. along with the cdi unit. i have checked all the other components with an ohm meter and things appear to be withing specs. any ideas of what course of action to take next. i am out of ideas except junking it..

 

Sounds to me like the pick up coil inexpensive part had mine go bad on my warrior.

 

can't seem to find one listed as a pick up coil? what other name could it be listed under. i have been looking at bikebandit at the parts and didn't see one listed. but that does not mean that it does not exist, but thanks for the information...

 

my moto 4 225 did the same thing. the part you are looking for is a pulser coil/pickup coil it is with the stator www.rmstator.com has them good price and fast shipping.

 

I ordered mine at www.rickystator.com with cc no problems yamaha will not sell you just the pickup coil they only sell you the stator with pickup coil included$$$.

 

i checked the stator per the manual and what the people at the yamaha place told me and appeared to check good. wasi just checking to see if i had a ground in the stator or did i check the pick up coil at the same time? i will look for it tonight on the atv and see if i can test it. it not i will order one, heck, its cheaper than taking it to the dealer for repairs.. thanks..
