questions on my new YFZ 450se
#1
i just picked up my new quad on wed. and i was just wondering some questions about this machine........1. when i let it idle for acouple min. the pipe right after the header will start to get so hot it will glow and then after about 4 min the fan will kick on but no light comes on.Is this a problem? 2. i'm wanting to get a slip on for this after i break it in and just wondering what will do the trick........thanks alot......

yeah... that's normal... the yfz's engine puts out a lot of heat. I dunno about a light... the 07's come w/ a temp light??
When you install your slip-on, be sure to rejet... I would remove the airbox lid as well...

yeh...they all glow red, but it's a race quad, when i bought mine, the dealer told me not to let it sit and idle for more then 10 mins...it doesn't cool down like it's supposed to by just sitting with no air going through the radiator. the fan will also kick on if you go around slow in 1st and 2nd gear, b/c it's not getting enough air.

oh thats good....... yes my 07 has a neutral light and a temp light infront of the handle bars.........
i was just wondering what is the best price and value of a pipe i'm thinking the HMF one thats around 250-300 dollars or should i spend a little more and get some thing that will increase my power more...... i don't want it super loud either..... thanks alot.....

well, i have a 06 curtis sparks full system, and i love it. The new curtis sparks for 07 i believe are a little quieter and give a little less power, but none the less an awesome pipe. I heard HMF is really good, also maybe pulse charger, but that's all hear say. To sum it up, i love my curtis, but it's just a wee bit loud.

Good luck finding a Pulse Charger... I highly recommend the HMF exhausts, but deff get the quiet core. Dirtwheels did a slip on test a few years ago for the YFZ, and the HMF made about the best power down low and up high. The Dubach Racing (or Dr.D) won though because it was close on power but also a bit quieter.
