08 Banshee 500??!!

I think the gig was up when they talked about a CVT Automatic option in the magazine...
That comment would have been just enough to make any dead Banshee riders roll in their grave...

it may be a joke but the motor does truely exist, here is some info from the yamaha website:
"The Banshee 500R uses a 2-cylinder, 500cc engine for its performance. The engine package is based on the YZ250F engine. It is actually two of them engineered together to become a potent, compact atv engine. The Banshee 500R is fuel injected, with a 5-valve head and makes its peak power at over 11,000 rpm. The Banshee 500R uses an advanced fuel injection system to control fuel flow to the engine. Consumers will enjoy the engine?s spot-on performance and throttle response as a result of the advanced electronic fuel injection system. The Banshee 500R's engine?s crankshaft is designed to be light weight, responsive and durable. The lightweight, counterbalanced crankshaft delivers super-crisp throttle response and quick acceleration. It also helps mitigate the vibration inherent in a 2-cylinder engine."

it will have half the engine of a street bike and the same frame design from that bike. it will have around 50-70 hp. it might look like a yfz with that yfz headlights, shocks and front fenders but they will have the banshee grill. the rear will look like the banshee. it might come out in 2008

it did come from their site but I changed the name of the bike from Phazer to Banshee 500R. figured some of you would get a kick out of that. The motor is currently used in the Phazer 500cc snowmobile. look under the bike's features, go check it out.

from what i heard its just 2 250 motors packed together. I called yamaha and they said that they have been working on it, but it will be realeased over seas, and prolly 08-09 here. i doubt it will pack the punch of the old banshees, and it will probably a pig on the weight side to, looks ugly 2
