Big Bear 250
#1
Does anyone else have one of these quads? I bought one for my son a few weeks ago, and for a small bike, this thing is a blast to ride. Although it does not have much clearance, the size of the quad makes up for it. It makes up for it in the sense that if a situation comes up where clearance is needed, usually the quad is so small it can just go around. The Big Bear 250 may not be much in the way of power, but the weight of the machine helps it out in this department too. I have also bought myself a Kawasaki Brute Force 650, and the Big Bear has just as much fun factor, just on a different level.
Overall, the Yamaha Big Bear 250 is a fun quad to ride. The weight of the machine is light, which helps with the smaller engine. The quad is narrow, which helps for maneuverability through the trails, and the price tag on it doesnt seem to be too bad. I think my son will get many years of enjoyment out of this quad, or at least until he is willing to pony up his own cash to buy something else he would rather have.
Who else has one of these quads?

I have the Bruin 250 wich is the same machine with different stickers. Essentially these date back to the Timberwolf then BearTracker then Bruin now Big Bear. I had a Timberwolf when I was in my early teens. A great machine to be sure. It had a few areas that I didn't like, but they fixed those over the years. For all the reasons you said it was my first choice machine for my wife to ride and , Other than power I have no complaints
I'm 6'7" 235lbs so I taxed it a lot when I would ride it. Now that the wife can't really ride anymore I've adopted it as my "Sport" utility machine. Added a little power and now its great for agressive riding. I've posted about my recent stuff in another thread, but needless to say I really enjoy the machine now. My wife may not get it back....! I had a timberwolf 250 same motor as the new big bear 250 I had ton's of fun on mine sunk it in many creek's & mud-holes always ran strong it's a great atv to start on as you said has great power for a 250 and it's bullet proof the only issue I had with mine is after about 3-6 month's of riding the brake's didnt work as well. But beside's that it stood strong I beat it many hard year's .Hope it give's your son and yourself many years of fun as well good riding to the both of ya.~~~Jeremy
