Default Please Help w/ Big Bear Problem....

I could sure use some of you experts advice....

I'm having some carburetor trouble with my 2000 Big Bear 400 4x4.

I really only use the machine to hunt with so it is kept in the shop most of the year. I haven't been using any storage additives in the fuel since I purchased and now I'm paying for it. It's been in the shop for a few months without running it since Deer season. It was running great when I stored it but, now I'm having some trouble. I used it about a week ago to work in the yard and it ran fine but, when I parked it the float valve stuck and drained every bit of a full tank out of the overflow and into the garage

I removed the carb, disassembled, cleaned all jets throughly, cleaned the rest of the carb, reassembled, and installed on the machine. The overflow doesn't leak now but, it idles fine for a bit and then it revs up for a bit then back down without me touching the throttle. It's always done this a bit but now it's much worse. The throttle cable is free & lubed and I have the idle adjusted out to where it doesn't even touch the throttle.

I can get by with the idle problem but, the Main problem is when I'm at full throttle. After I cleaned the carb I took the bike out and rode it for a while. While going slow in the lower gears it ran great but, when I hit full throttle it will get to full speed fine and after about 5 seconds it sputters & dies and will coast down but, before it stops it starts running again until you hit full throttle then it sputters, dies, and coast down again.....

It will only do this at full throttle and runs fine at slower speeds. I took it down several trails and it ran great but when I hit a straight away where I could go to full throttle it did the same thing(wide open great for about 5 seconds and then sputter, die, coast, and start up and run fine until you try full throttle again).

Do I just have something adjusted wrong?

All of the jets were fine when I took them out but I sprayed them with carb cleaner and cleaned them anyway. Really the only thing that was dirty was the float valve which, I thoroughly cleaned and like I said it's not leaking from the overflow anymore.

Does it sound like the float valve is still working improperly? Air to fuel mixture off?(I bottomed it out and backed off 3 turns)

I really just don't know what to do.

Thanks for any help!

THIS MAY NOT HELP BUT TRY ADJUSTING THE FLOAT LEVEL.

SOUNDS LIKE IT MAY BE TO LOW AND RUNNING OUT OF GAS AT HIGH SPEED.

GOOD LUCK !!

Thanks Pappa, I'll adjust the level of the tab and see if that helps.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks!
