Raptor Starting Problem
#1
I think it could be my battery but I am not sure so I'm wondering what you guys think .. I can turn the key on and like my headlights and stuff work but I go to start it and it will not start. It trys to turn over but doesn't. I then hook a battery charger up and it will start but takes forever. Once I unhook the charger it will run but once I shut the engine off and try to restart the quad it won't restart. It will only start or have enough power when there is a charger hooked up to it. It doesn't hold a charge at all .. What you guys think about it ?

when you say it tries to turn over, does the starter turn over, or does the solenoid make a buzzing noise? and when you say you have to play with the wires above the battery, you mean the ones that bolt to the terminals on the battery? they shouldnt be loose enough to play with, make sure they are clean and tight.
battery chargers usually take 4 hours minumum, so i would unhook the battery from the quad and set it on the charger on trickle overnight. set it on the lowest setting for a 12v battery,(maybe 2 amps), then if you hook it up and it still wont turn over, its time to drop 35 bucks on a new battery. if its a 4 year old battery its probably time.

i would guess battery first. you can always have it load tested, most places that sell batteries will do it for free. if not that, check your ground wires and the plugs that come off the side of the motor. good luck!
