Raptor 660 Rear Fender Repair - Glue Gun?
Hey all,
Has anyone ever tried repairing the rear fender underside mount with a glue gun? To be more specific, the plastic mounting tab that protrudes from the underside of the rear fender has broken off and is still attached to the metal support.
I was thinking of using a glue gun to see if it would hold the plastic mounting tab in place.
Thanks,
Bil

I have used stainless steel wire stitching to hold various plastic parts and tabs together on both motorcycles and quads. With lots of grandkids this helps to keep costs down. Use very small drill, just a little larger than wire and keep stitches close together. Not very pretty but has always held together for me.

Seems like nothing really sticks to this type of plastic. Glue will probably just come apart when the fender gets stressed.
I have used the stitching method with Zip ties in the past for long splits in fenders, but for a mounting tab you may have to try something else.
You could make a tab out of flat stock with mount points that protrude to areas farther out on the fender, and then drill through the fender and run bolts with nice washers.
Or get new after market plastic in the exact color you always wanted.

Thanks for the suggestions guys...to date, I have used a hot glue gun to repair the part. I applied the glue generously and it seems that it has done the job. The real test will be when I take the quads out (hopefully tomorrow). I'll keep my fingers crossed.

i suggest you dont use those methods they look kinda cheap in my opinion zip ties and wire everywhere not to mention that you just ruined the fenders. there is a method called plastic welding where the parts are heated and a type of glue is put in between them this is how the brackets were put on at the factory. you can buy the guns pretty cheap and then youll have it for future repairs or for your buddies(make them buy you dinner) try harbor freight tools for the gun they do have a web site
