I've been looking at the new Big Bear 400 IRS and the Eiger 400 manual. Ive ridden both and liked them although I'd have to say the Big Bear was my favorite.
Does any one here have a Big Bear? Do you like it? I know it's a bit soon, but has anyone had any problems with them? I'd also like to hear from anyone who has switched from an Eiger. What were the pluses and minuses on the Big Bear vs. Eiger. Also, how many miles can you go on a tank of fuel? I really like the Big Bear, but there are some really good deals on the Eigers. Thanks!

I would get the Eiger it can do all what the Big bear can in work with its low range option. The two things you will not like about the Big Bear is its harsh ride on rough ground and its desperate need for another gear when it is screaming at its top end of only 45mph (power is not its problem but gearing is). The eiger has a smoother ride and better general recreational gearing allowing it to cruise at 50 mph smoothly on long flat boring sections.
What I like about low range is that it will pull in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear while in low. Utilities without Low range have a super low first gear and thats it. Sometimes your pulling something up a long steep hill but you want to get to the top sometime today, thats where Low range 2nd or even 3rd is a nice thing to have.

I got one, but haven?t had it long enough to say much. It only has 27 miles on it. I did get it stuck in muck past the shifter, muck w/ little water. The ground was waving like a water bed trying to get it out. It is a little slow but its not broke in and im not going to rev it all the way up. But is is also the first util i have really ridden (demo new rancher, and a 700 of a friends)
i think its smoother then the rancher ride, but it shifts firmer. Im also new to the semi auto. Hope this helps a little, i ll check back Jordan

Thanks guys for the responses. I do still like the Big Bear IRS. It seems to have some nice features on it, but I got a deal I just couldn't pass up on a new 2007 Eiger. ($4,369 OTD) I've only taken it for one ride (15 miles) on lots of sand. I was really impressed with the power, ride and especially the fuel economy! The Vinson I used to have would have used a whole lot more fuel than I used in the Eiger! Overall I think I'm going to like it a lot!
