Default 2001 GRIZZLY 600 MOTOR CASE

Hi Everyone, a friend of mine has a 2001 grizzly 600, which started knocking real loud. It is the bottom end, and a dealer told him $1800 for a new motor. Does he really need to replace the motor, or can it be rebuild???, or where would I be able to find a used one???

It matters where the knock is. If its from the big end bearing then you might be able to have the crank rebuilt and be alright. It could also be from any of the bearings or even something weird in your CVT clutch. You also have to find out why it failed. Was it ran low on oil? did the oil pump fail? In most cases a bad oil pump cause top end noises though. The only way to find out is to open it up and see what you can find.
