Default Help! 01 Raptor 660

I just bought a GYT-R High Flow air filter with an adaptor for my Raptor. I did not have any problems installing it and i removed the air box wich I hated. When I started the bike for the first time it sounded stronger and rode it a little and worked ok. My Problem is that now when I put it in 1st gear and hit the trottle a little it shuts off, the only way it wont die is if I hit the trottle fast and works ok after that. Only when I press on the trottle a little is when it dies. Anyone know what could be the reason? Thanks

Of course you left the carb jets and metering system exactly the same did'nt you? If you introduce more air to the engine you have to provide more fuel.

Yeah you need to rejet---you need to up your pilot jets with the lid off, as well as the main jets too....best bet to get a GYT-R jet kit and install it.....what other mods do you have? Like Pipe or any motor work (cam or high comp. piston)???

I bought my raptor used from a guy so im not sure if he did any mods to th engine the only thing i know is that it has a Big Gun Race complete exaust system and he installed a hand throttle and an aluminum oil tank I can also tell that he work on it because some bolts on the engine and screws on the iddle adjustment are worn.

If you get the GYT-R jet kit I would put the 25 pilot jets (only pilot jets that come in the kit) put the new needles with the clip on the 3rd slot and probably 155 left carb and 160 right carb for the main jets. the right carb should be one size bigger than the left....these settings should get you close if not right on....good luck.....

I Just took the carbs off and took off the stock jets it had 22.5 pilots and 148 mains. I just ordered the jet kit and will receive it in a couple of days. On one side there are 3 jets if i'm not wrong, I only took of the pilot and main I did not want to mess with that one because I dont know what is it for?. Are the GYT-R Needles different from the stock ones?

If one of your mains is a 148 then you probably have a jet kit installed already and may be waisting your money with another. Why did you not ask the person you purchased the atv from what the current state of tune is upon purchase?

I was not familiar with quads then but I just put on the GYT-R Jet kit with the new needles but I have not started the bike because when I open up the gas valve the left carb begin to leak gasoline from the very bottom hole and I closed the valve. It leaks more when you move the bike. What could I had done wrong?
