Yhea the low end is good and it will climb about anything, but I like it to wheelie a lot easier with the low end torque, but I wish it did have a higher top speed to it.

I hate to tell you the guy at Yamaha is full of $h!t. The top speed of the wolvy 450 is only around 54-56 mph 75 now that would be nice I dont think that the raptor 700 will get there but Im not sure about it.
as far as beating a stock 300 ex I think it would be close but I think he would beat you because I believe he has a higher top speed, plus a lot less weight.

07 Wolverine question
I just bought one last week for the girlfriend. According to the certificate of origin it puts out 26hp, which really isn't too bad. I didn't spend more than a few minutes buzzing around on a trail aqnd I thought it had a little spunk to it. I did have a 250ex for the girlfriend last year with the sport clutch five speed in it. Even with having a CVT transmission, the 450 Wolverine feels pretty snappy compared to a 250 five speed. After all is said and done, 26hp is pretty respectable considering my last 660 Raptor was around 42 hp. it would be better for slow speed obstacles if it had a low range though i think. I think Yamaha decided on saving a few dollars by giving it one range that could be lower at times and other times could use more speed. Almost qwondering if spending another three hundred dollars would've been better spent on a 450 Grizzly, at least you get independent rear suspension and a low range. Then again, for the amount of money you save, a 2wd Wolverine 350 is a nice machine for the girlfriend too.
