Hi i was thinking to get a used Raptor 660 And was wondering if there is anything i should know about them. like if they have any problems and if you guys recommend it. Also whats the top speed? cuz i heard they are preety slow is that true? does it keep up with a trx or yfz450? or a 400? and are the shoks good for jumping?

hay there, i bought a 660. to hopped it up; i places a Curtus sparks exhause, KN air filter, and rejeted the carb and up graded CDI box. my buddy has a stocked raptor and i can take him no problem. but against a 450, i dont have a chance. i think the 660 is an over all great quad, it is well balenced and plenty of power for me, and this is just my opinion. but if you plan to go up against 450s, then you better go buy one of them. if you want to have alot of fun, the 660 will provide you with plenty of fun.
good luck!

i like my 660r just fine.as for keeping up with 450`s...we all know they will out accelerate a 660r.but who really cares?seriously think about it...who cares?unless your planning on racing the 450`s are not a very practical quads.you can`t lug them in lower rpm`s like you can a raptor, they don`t have reverse (except the kfx) and the suspention isn`t plush feeling at all on the trails.my 660r whoops up on 400`s so don`t worry about them.as for the power of the 660r they have enough to do whatever you want....dune or trail.but they are not a good mx quad though.the top speed is at what i`m guessing to be in the mid to high 70`s.mine keeps up with my buddies 450r just fine and yes i jump it but the suspention will need to be made stiffer for the bigger jumps.hope this helps...

i have yet to have any major problems with my raptor and would reccomend one to any trail rider.

they are a great bike, the 2001 had tranny issues,& they all have starter clutch problems but other than that they are reliable. top speed on a bone stock 660 is around 70 to 75 mph. not 2 slow about the same top speed as the 450s. just don't get there quite as fast in stock trim. it will spank 400s all day though. they respond well to mods, & the motor lasts alot longer than the high strung 450s. if you wanna beat 450's with it you'll need a high compression piston, a better cam, pipe, filter, jetting. nothing a 1000 bucks won't cure.
depends on what kind of a deal your getting though. if you only ride the track, get a 450. if you ride everywhere else try the raptor they have great power, & are a heck of a lot more comfortable.

I bought my 04 660 last year for 4k and love it. It has low hrs and is clean as hell. I think i got a pretty good deal. Ive heard that the 01 and 02s have tranny issues but 03 and newer ur in the clear with that problem. I havent had mine long enough to tell u about any issues. All i can say is i love it. Lot of power, no need for the 450's
