Should I jet my Raptor myself?????
UPDATE: man this crap sucks.... I got the jet kit and I put 160/165 main jets w/ 25 pilots and the needle in 3rd position. OK now the fun begins....I'm gonna fast foward like 5 days. Long story short, it was sputtering on the high end (1/2 to full throttle) so from reading these forums I knew that the neddle and the mains were to rich.....I went down to 155/160 and neddle on 3rd clip and it ran well just a bit rich. (some popping and laziness up high) so I am gonna move the clip postion to 4 and it should really rip. I put the 14 tooth front sproket on and I am pleased. I really dont want to move the fuel screw anymore. Right now the left fuel screw is set at 2 3/4 out and right is 2 out. The GTYR jet kit I got said turn the right screw out 2 and leave it, that there was no need to adjust the right one anymore because it had dual carbs. MY QUESTION: Should I leave the needle at the 3rd clip and adjust the fuel screw since it is so close to being perfect or move the needle to 4th postion and leave the fuel screw alone? It is really almost ready, just wide open....it hesitates a bit ( doesnt pull strong ALL the way through). Thanks again guys

If it idles fine then leave the fuel screw alone. If you a little sluggish on top 3/4 to full then drop the mains one step to 155/150. Also make sure you put the bigger jet in the correct side. Leave the clip alone for now and see if you can get it right without messing with that. Your jetting may be different than someone else's due to elevation, climate, or a different needle, different jet manufacturer...etc. So when someone is explaining jetting, unless they are using the same jets and everything that you are, take it with a grain of salt.

I think I got it now. 155-160, 4th clip and 25 pilots. I was riding in some dusty areas and it started running rich. I new to this but it would make sense to me that when the filter gets clogged, not enough air is mixing w/ the fuel. The gas keeps flowing and the air is being held up. Am I right to assume this is correct. On another note...I have the 14 front installed, It runs great but 1st gear is still kinda short.....does anyone have a 15 front sprocket and if so how is your first gear?

hey dude if you not like the air box lid off beacuse the filter gets dirty fast k&n makes a filter that takas place of the lid and outerwears makes a cover that is cheaper to replace the lid. they both will help prolong the cleaning the filter and the dirt inside the airbox.

I currently run my air box lid w/ the top cut off....I have a outerware cut in half and gorilla taped to the top. Then I have my K&N w/ the real outerware over it. The stock front is a 13 tooth...I have a 14 on currently. It made a difference but 1st is still a bit short for me.
