Any Big Bear owners had to replace their rear-part of the black mudflap for the front wheels. We went riding in 20 degree weather, and while cutting across a small wood section, the mud-flap on the back of the front wheel, which must've been brittle from the cold, snapped off. Anyone else had this problem? Anyone had to replace this part? How much does it costs? It is the black plastic part that attaches to the back of the front colored fender, and to the side of the frame, near the motor. Man, my daughter is really bummed over this. First time she messed up her new quad. I'm hoping it won't be more than $20 or $30 to replace......

I can't really help you out Bob, but I find that incident a little unusually. I've ran my Big Bear through bush in close to -40 degree whether (I'm from Canada, eh!) and never had a problem with any of my plastics or fenders. The only similar problem I've had is I had to replace my left front mud flap. I was pulling a downed tree out of the bush and caught with a log which forced it on to my tire. The tire then promptly wore though it. I got one for a $120 (Canadian). I'm sure the mud flap won't cost that much, but I do have on off a Kawaski you can have, but that would be like wearing odd socks. Hoped I helped.

I have had to replace the rear one. It got riped almost right of the machine. In my opinion they hang down a little to low....but thats why they are such a DRY riding quad;-).Between us, we have 4- 2000 Big Bears and 1 2000 Grizzz. They are all ridden and hunted VERY hard. All have been rolled, underwater, you name it. They just keep on taking the abuse, and liking it I might ad! They are just awesome and RELIABLE ATV's!!!!
As far as the fenders go, the rear one cost me about $25., I think the front was the same. Not too bad! I think most of the fenders were all just about hanging off or broken after hunting season. Now they get fixxed, season is over!
One last note, I can highly recommend getting a skid plate for the main undercarrage. If you look on the right hand side of the big bear you will notice the oil filter cover and related oil lines are in a very dangerous location. I have personally broke off one of the lines off the housing. Had to be towed back to camp:-(. The housing cost about $50..... almost the same as a skid plate!
Anyway, good luck.......Herbie

Where did you find a skid plate for that price? I haven't found one for under $115. I love my big bear and haven't had any problems with it. Has anyone found any floorboards that are decent for a 2000 big bear? The ones I have found don't have a very big hole for shifting.

not your fault, me and a few friends just purchased 5 2001 big bears in november , not one of us has a flap that isnt broken, and we take good care of our machines, i had a suzuki 4/4 for 6 years before the bb and no breaks on the body ,2 friends with kodiaks havent had any plastic breaks, we have a good modification for the front flaps if your interested, before you break the new ones.

Yes, I'd be interested in your modification. We contacted the dealer, and the replacement part is $22 (+ tax). But I would definitely be interested in how to prevent future recurrances. By the way, the Big Bear has impressed me, and other than missing any kind of skidplate, it's a great machine. My daughter loves it.....

I have the Big Bear 2000 with the realtree design. My back fender snapped when I leaned over to strap something onto the back of it. When I contacted my dealer, he told me that they just got a notice about the fenders breaking. Replaced it for free.
