Default raptor help

well i just got my engine back from the shop. new transmission and one way starter clutch. got the engine back in and instantly started to hear noise much like piston slap. it's not terrible but it doesn't sound good either. i have checked the valves twice and they are ok. i was wondering if anyone thinks it can be anything other than the piston because the mechanic who put in the tranny said the piston looked good when he had it apart. i do know my clutch is just about shot also, could that be causing noise like this? or even possibly the new one way? the noise is most obvious when rolling downhill and not on the gas.

Anything other than a little valve noise is not normal. Otherwise, I would take it back to the tool that fixed the tranny for you and have him listen to it before it grenades. Do you have any idea how many hours are on the engine?

well it's not the chain i know that, and the guy who rebuilt the tranny went to MMI so i feel pretty confident in his work. I also rode about 4 hours on it the other day with no noticeable problems other than the knocking noise. is it possible that something is not broke in yet such as the tranny or maybe the new one way riding on the old 52t gear? or is there an easy way to check for piston slap? i know that it is supposed to be less noticeable once the engine is at operating temp, but in my case the noise stays the same no matter what.
