Mudlites..Like said,I love them..They are a 6ply tire that are much lighter then most others of the same type,I was able to go from 23'' to 25"on the rear and 23 to 24" on the fronts, with no power loss that I have noticed,on my 350 Wolverine..I ride mostly hard pack trails and rocks with bunch of mud in the mix..They are head over heals better then the Dunlop oem's that were on my quad..I have many hours of riding on these tires as of now, with really no wear and chunks taken out from rocks.I like my tires a little more stable and ride them at 9lb psi..I love them,I will buy again for sure..But next time I think I will go to 24" on the back..Just to have the same size as the fronts..Also I think you will need to go to 24" Mudlites,I dont think they make them in 23"..</end quote></div>
Excellent, I was told you have to replace 4x4 with all the same sizes to maintain the same ratio for the 4wd system? Okay, now here is my big question, do the Mud Lites ride better over the hard rocks and roots than the OEM Dunlop that were on you it? Was there a lot less chop and bounce over hard rocky washed out trails? Oh and according to the advertised list in the magazine, they do have front and rear available in 23"!!</end quote></div>
I'd say a little more chop because of the thicker lugs on the mudlites, they catch a little more then the stock oem tread did..But in the mud,or hillclimbs the mudlites really make a difference..

Okay so the OEM Dunlops do ride a little better over the rough suff than the ITP Mudlites. Interesting, now I'm wondering how they compare to the Carlisle AT489? I need to know what the best handling tire is over the rocky terrain is in that size before I purchase them.

also is her Wolverine a 4x4??Because I do notice a much smoother ride when in 4x2 mode, with the Warn 424 select, better handling also.I only have mine in 4x4 mode when in deep mud or climbing hills really..4x2 makes the 350 manual shift Wolverine a differnt quad really..

yes 2wd, 90% of the time, just need to find a softer riding tire. it sounds like the tires on the original wolverine would give her the softest ride, or maybe the Carlisle AT489's?

she has a 450 though,If I went up 1 or 2 sizes on my 350 and did not notice any power loss, she sure won't..Put some 24's on..
But this site has the 489's in oem sizes,if thats what you want,I can see what you are saying..Yamaha messed up my making that bike a automatic..To me the sport part of the of the Wolverine is all in the manual shifting..

I looked at a couple sites and that is their pitch..softer smother ride lol..just what you are looking for..

If you are getting that much bounce in the rear-end,you really should adjust the rebound on the rear shock to make it a little softer..It is a simple job..</end quote></div>
Bingo! You hit it on the nose. The new Wolfy suffers seriously from a cheap rear shock. If your weight is forward and you go over a bump, the rear end bucks something fierce. Adjusting the rebound would tame this problem right down. But alas, yamaha didn't give us a shock with adjustable compression or rebound.
I don't think just changing tires is going to cut it (athough I love the mud lites on my scrambler and will get some for this bike soon). There will aslo be a new shock on the shopping list for my wife new wolverine. Too bad yamaha cheaped out on this one...
