Default raptor shock ?s

I have an 04 raptor 660 and when I was recently changing my rear axle out I noticed that the rear shock has a little left/right play in it. Meaning I can twist it back and forth about 1/4 - 1/2 inch. I immediately thought bearings but the bike has very few hours on it. I took it to the local shop, which doesnt have the best rep, and asked. They said its normal. I didnt believe it at first until they showed me another 04 which was in the shop and it looked the same. So I accepted the answer. The more and more I think about it, I just cant believe that its right. Can anybody help me out?

Also, are yfz450 front shocks a direct bolt on replacement for the 04 raptor and is it worth it to spend a few bucks on a used set off of ebay?
