When was the last time it idled properly? The idle adj might have gotten unajusted. How dose it run at very slite throttle openings ( at all engine speeds) when you are ridding? 32: 1 is Right on your pre mix

Check the Idle screw. remove the seat and locate screw on very top of carb. Now I can't remember what year they came out with the TROS. Speedy what year would that be? If not equipt whith TROS, Find screw that regulats throttle valve lowest hieght and adjust. I would adjust Idle before diving in to deeper issues. how ever mak sure pilot air screw is set to spec before adjusting idle.

It won't hurt it, but you want opptomum preformance and throttle response. you won't get that without proper idle. if you don't know your way around your carb, get a service manual. beleve me its worth it. if its not the idle Adjust screw, then take carb apart and clean, and adjust fully. while apart check float level. your machien is stock (no mods) Right?

Do you know where the Idle screw is on the Carb? Do you know where the pilot Air screw is? if you have an after market pipe you may need to do some rejetting as recomended by speedy.
