Default octane booster?

My quad always runs a little rough at first... I don't get to ride real often to keep all the fluids moving.

Today when i started up my quad it'd idle with the choke on but after i took it off it'd rev unsmoothly then after a while i'd heard a pop and see what i think was the boot poppin off.

A guy at the shop recommended that I give octane booster because it is a fuel preservative and can clean the system.

Would it help the problem by cleaning the carbs and if so how should i go about doing it?

Thanks for reading.
