First of all, can you depict the model year on the Yamaha from the serial number? I have a raptor titled 02, but am not sure.

I am wondering because I want to put on a Dyna FS Digital Ignition. I heard they can add quite a bit of performance. Has anyone out there put one on their raptor?

I also need to replace my rear sprocket... I am already running +1 tooth on front....I would like pop starting out in second gear. Any suggestions?

If the subframe is square tube aluminum and the rear shock is remote rezzy then it 99% sure an 01. I am not sure about the VIN numbers. You can change the wiring warness pins on the 02 and up harness to work with an 01 cdi.
The CDI is not worth it unless you have a fully built, rock and roll, engine. The programable Dyna is the best on the market but the will be very little to no difference in performance unless you get on the dyno and make custom curves. To make the curves yourself you need the cables and software that does not come with the cdi. There are a couple of companys such as Sparks racing that will will program some better curves than what comes in them.
I have all that stuff along with the cables. I wish they would make them USB.

 

what's the tenth digit in the VIN? it will be a # and that # is the year so if it's a 2 it's a 2002

 

yeah, the frame is round alum. The vin has both a 1 and a 2 in it. I guess I can call the dealer and figure it out. I haven't had any interior motor work done so the CDI would be a waste of money? My buddy has a KFX 400 with a rev box on it and it makes a huge difference. It gets more out of the motor, past the rev limiter.

 

gotcha, I will check with the dealer. The frame is round and the vin has a 1 and a 2 in it. My buddy has a rev box for his KFX400 and it blows my wifes away. We have all the same other mods (comparable).
