Raptor 250 or 350
I would go for the 700r, the 250 will haul you around, but not get you through the sand with any speed, and the 350 wont be a whole lot better.
I am 6,1 and 200 lbs and I constantly had to downshift and work the trans on my old 250 but with my 450 i have no problems with that.

My dealer STILL does not have a Raptor 250 for me to look at.
I guess maybe I am one of the rare birds.... but I keep going over the specs and weight, and thinking this little thing ought to be just an absolute load of fun to flick around in the tight woods. And this is coming from someone who has ridden a lot of quads.... But I won't "just order it" because I am afraid it might be too small length-wise. I'm 6 ft and 200 lbs. I mean if it is the size of many other 250's I would be fine with it... like the 250X/300EX, Mojave 250, Z250, etc, etc...

When I saw the 250 in person, I couldn't believe how small it is. I don't know the specs, but I swear it looks way smaller than the Blaster. I'm 6'1" and 210 lbs and there is no way I could fit on it comfortably.

Duster,
the Raptor 250 feels about the same size as a Honda 250 EX or Suzuki Z 250 when you are sitting on it. The seat/handlebar/footpeg ergonomics aren't all that bad for an adult. Its not what I would consider optimal size, but its not impossibly small either. For a beginning adult is might be a good first ATV. We have several different off-road toys in the garage, and if I were to have to chose only one it would be the Grizzly 700. But I would get a Raptor 250 for my own before getting another Rhino. In fact, I don't even think I would buy another Rhino, period. The Raptor 250 with my 88 lb. son riding it beats the Rhino 660 in a drag race, and runs away from it on top end (its combined vehicle and driver weight is over a thousand pounds less). So if you are looking for something for just the fun of it, the Raptor 250 is a neat little quad. Part of the fun factor is definitely because it is so light. It weighs 47 lbs less than a Honda 250 EX, and 53 lbs less than a Suzuki Z 250, and that much less weight makes a huge difference in handling and sportyness. It also has really good suspension for an entry level 250 cc sport quad. It has an inch more suspension travel than the Z 250, and two inches more suspension travel than the 250 EX. The Raptor 250 just made everything else in the 250 sport class obsolete.

That is OK. He'll need to spend a lot more than 2K to keep up with you.
