Default Thought, Opinions?

Im looking to buy my first quad, and have been politely directed towards buying a nice used warrior. (not my first experience riding though, just first owned) i was curious to get some pro's and con's of the warriors. there are some for sale locally for some decent prices, a 2000 and a 2001. any other suggestions of different quads also? thanks!

The Warrior is a great entry level bike with a proven motor as long as you keep the oil changed and the filter clean they are a great long lasting quad you can't go wrong with a warrior.

i was also a little worried about the whole manual transmition thing, never had to use one before, always been an automatic or autoclutch sportclutch kinda dealio, are there any decent trail quads out there that are tough reliable and fairly inexepensive with this type of a setup? (either sportclutch style or automatic)

You could look into the Polaris Scrambler 500 it has the auto tranny with reverse and it is a good bike and very easy to operate.

how would the scrambler 500 compair up against a 350 warrior? (just curious, as i want to get the most fun and best deal) if it helps, it will be used mainly for light trails and stuff nothing too technical, just a regular thrash around gofast machine is what im looking for.

The Scrambler is a little faster with more bottom end torque. It isn't a speed demond but very easy to operate and get's the job done. if you install a aftermarket pipe and air filter and the clutch kit it really wakes them up.

i Just read this as part of a review on the scrambler, how much truth does this guy speak? "Yes, it will pull the front wheels when new. But after the belt wears in, you can floor it at any time. So you'll find yourself with your thumb all the way in it way too often. The flaws of these machines are: the above mentioned power and the vent for the belt is right behind the left front wheel. So anytime you're in even 6 inches of water and hit the throtle while turning left, you're throwing water straight at that vent. I've been left behind too many times, from a slipping belt, before modifing it myself. Now I don't have that problem. Next is the chain! This bike is too heavy for a chain. "

The clutch kit help it start off at a higher RPM and launch harder and stay in the power band as far as the problems with water I am not sure we have taken my dads out across water and not had any problems but we mainly ride in the desert and in the dunes here in Arizona. The bike is on the heavy side but it is very nimble. As far as the wolverine I have never riden one. I am signing off I hope I helped you some good luck with finding a good bike. If it were me I would go with the Warrior and put a pipe a jet kit and the K&N filter on it and you would probably have more fun with the manual transmission.
